Did you know that domestic violence and animal abuse are often connected? And that sometimes, pet owners are reluctant to leave a bad situation because of the uncertainty about what will happen to their pets?
Our PetHaven Program offers an option for short-term temporary care for pets whose owners need to get out of a bad situation. We don't ask questions, we don't require advance notice, and we're discreet. We're just here to offer a safe place for pets, quickly, so anyone seeking safety for themselves has the peace of mind to know their pets are safe, too.
If you or someone you know needs to utilize our PetHaven Program, you can email us at animalshelter@fairfaxcounty.gov, call us at 703-830-1100, or just come onĀ in with the pets who you'd like us to care for while you get to a safe place. We'll provide food, veterinary care and spay/neuter services if needed, and supplies. And if you need to rehome your pet, we can help with that too.
If you or someone you know needs this program and lives outside of Fairfax County, contact the shelter or rescues in your county, or contact us and we'll help provide info on options in your area.
