John T. Frey,
Clerk of the Court
Uncontested matters may be heard at 9:00 a.m. & will be set with a Judge. Parties may no longer set hearings at 9:00 a.m. without a Judge. Contested matters will be set at 10:00 a.m. for civil action cases & 11:30 a.m. for domestic cases.
Virtual hearings for these motions may be requested: If all parties agree on a virtual hearing, a purple praecipe must be completed. This praecipe must be fully completed, including the email contact information for all participants. If the parties cannot agree on a virtual hearing, a standard yellow praecipe will be submitted, & the hearing will be held in-person unless a virtual hearing is authorized by the judge. Telephonic appearances for a participant can be authorized by the judge as well.
Fairfax Circuit Court has specific procedures for civil motions heard on Fridays. The only motions that will be heard on a Friday Civil Motions Day are those that can be argued by both sides in a total of 30 minutes or less.
The Friday Motions Day Praecipes (yellow and purple) and Response/Opposition to Motions (green) should be filed with the Case Status Team in Suite 321. For questions regarding deadlines and removals, please contact the Motions Clerk at (703) 246-4355.
