BURKE LAKE GOLF CENTER

Senior Professional

Position Title: Senior Professional  
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA.
Hours: Part-time work with a flexible schedule. 
Salary: Ranging from $60.37 to $100.62 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. 

Overview: Teaches a variety of classes, lessons, and special event clinics. Maintains his/her own instruction schedule. Coordinates directly with students to establish and/or cancel appointments and classes. Ensures the visibility of all instruction activities and student contact information.  Ensures the facility is prepared for instruction prior to the start of scheduled activities.  Assists with curriculum development to meet the needs of the customer base. Reports to the Head Professional. 

Required Skills: The Senior Professional is a certified LPGA/PGA member in good standing with at least 10 years teaching experience. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and some holidays. A thorough knowledge of clubs and personalized club fitting is required. The professional is also responsible for growing the game by explaining etiquette and on course tactics to beginners. The candidate works within a diverse team where good interpersonal skills are required.

Physical requirements: Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures for multiple hours. Ability to stand and walk for two hours without resting is preferred.  Must be able to carry 30 lbs for 300 feet.

SNAG Instructor (Starting New at Golf)

Position Title: SNAG Instructor (Starting New at Golf)
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA.
Hours: Part-time work with a flexible schedule. 
Salary: Ranging from $22 to $36 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. 

Overview: The SNAG instructor must have great interpersonal skills and an ability to engage with children ages 5 to 8 years. Follow the SNAG curriculum and be creative in reaching each child’s needs. Candidate must be a team player with a high level of energy. Reports to the Head Professional.  

The SNAG training will be offered to the successful candidate with options for further learning throughout their tenure. There will be three levels of classes that the SNAG instructor is responsible for teaching. 

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures for multiple hours. Must be able to carry 30 lb.

Master Golf Club Fitter

Position Title: Master Golf Club Fitter
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA.
Hours: Part-time work with a flexible schedule. 
Salary: Ranging from $22 to $36 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. 

Overview: The Golf Club fitter must have a wide knowledge of golf equipment fitting principles and excellent interpersonal skills. Be fully certified and maintain credentials on an annual basis. Have extensive knowledge of new technology to include launch monitors and multiple club product lines specifications. Reports to the Head Professional.  

Required Skills: Must be a certified fitter with a national company (Callaway, Ping, TaylorMade). Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Snack Bar Attendant 

Position Title: Snack Bar Attendant 
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA.
Hours: This position is scheduled 4 days a week, including one weekend day. Shift lengths are generally 6-8 hours long. 
Salary: Pay for this position starts at $13.00 per hour and may increase based on experience and certifications.

Duties Include: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons. 
  • Serve food and drinks.
  • Operate a cash register/point of sales system. 
  • Process both cash and credit card transactions. 
  • Clean tables, counters, and kitchen. 
  • Will be required to learn the snack bar menu and how to make each item.

Duties Include: 

  • Under supervision, coordinates and participates in the activities of kitchen personnel engaged in preparing, cooking and serving food for consumption. 
  • Accountable for overall success of the daily kitchen operations. 
  • Exhibits culinary talents by personally performing tasks while leading the staff and assists in managing all food related functions. 
  • Supervises all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high quality product is produced.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school or G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus one year of experience in the preparation in a small to medium size kitchen operation, specifically in food preparation.

Preferred Qualifications: 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.

  • Schedule: Time 6:00am-2:00pm, 5 days a week with 1 day on the weekend for 3-4 hours.

  • Description: Push mowing small equipment including weed eater and blower. Weeding and mulching, landscaping and gardening. Raking sand bunkers, divot repair. Free golf based on level of capacity during the season.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Must have a valid driver’s license able to lift 30lbs, savvy in using hand tools (shovel, rake, weed eater, push mower, pruning tools etc.) able to work in most weather conditions (extreme heat/rainy days), able to use a computer (internet browser).

Position Title: Driving Range Attendant

Overview: Oak Marr Golf Center is looking for an eager and willing to learn individual. This entry level position is perfect for those looking for a first job or someone looking for part time work. The Range Attendant is responsible for operating the range picker, ensuring the range is clean and operational, and providing exceptional customer service. 

Duties Include: 

  • Drive the range picker vehicle to collect range balls.
  • Monitor the driving range to ensure customers are adhering to rules and are being safe. 
  • Pick balls and empty range ball baskets. 
  • Assists with light maintenance and cleaning.

Manager on Duty

Position Title: Manager on Duty

Location: Pinecrest Golf Course; 6600 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Hours: Hours vary including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: Starting at $15.00 per hour.

Overview: Manager on duty with a variety of responsibilities to include opening and or closing facility; Conducting cash close-out at end-of-day; Making bank deposits; and assisting customers in all aspects of golf course operation.

Duties Include:

  • Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the manager.
  • Responsible for overseeing staff activity; correct deficiencies as appropriate.
  • Ensure starter and marshal are performing their duties.
  • Assist staff in all aspects of operation including food service.
  • Cleaning and restocking facility for next days' business.
  • Responsible for closing cash registers and completing nightly closing paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Range Attendant is responsible for operating the range picker, ensuring the range is clean and operational, and providing exceptional customer service. 

Duties Include: 

  • Drive the range picker vehicle to collect range balls.
  • Monitor the driving range to ensure customers are adhering to rules and are being safe. 
  • Clean and restock ball machines. 
  • Pick range balls and empty range ball baskets.

Pro Shop Maintenance: Works alongside a manager on duty to close the pro shop at the end of the day. Aspects of the job include restocking, washing the power carts, cleaning the grill, doing the dishes, sweep/mop/vacuum the pro shop and bathrooms.

Miniature Golf: Works as the attendant to check-in players. In the opening shift you will be required to set up the course. The closing shift requires breaking down the course, cleaning the bathrooms, and straightening up the pavilion.

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
